Financial Aid MICDS is dedicated to providing a quality education to all qualified students regardless of family financial circumstances.
The School recognizes that a diverse population contributes to the education of all students and to the spirit and climate of the school community. In support of this, a substantial need-based financial aid program exists to provide assistance to those families whose financial resources cannot provide fully for the cost of an independent school education.
For information about financial aid availability, please call the Admission Office before submitting an application.
- In 2011-2012 over $3.6 million in financial aid was allocated to 24% of the student body.
- The average financial aid award for 2010-2011 was $12,300.
All families applying for tuition assistance are required to submit a confidential Grant and Aid Application directly to FACTS Management Company. Applications must be submitted online. In addition, families are required to provide FACTS with a copy of their federal income tax form with all appropriate schedules. The School's Financial Aid Committee determines financial aid grants. The Committee's deliberations are confidential and address only the factors affecting the assessment of need. MICDS will provide financial aid application instructions in December to those families who indicate an interest on their application.
It is the opinion of the School that, regardless of the marital status of an applicant's parents, both of the child's natural parents share the responsibility for educating their child. Thus, wherever possible, both must comply with the filing requirements as stated above. In the case where the custodial parent has remarried, the financial situation of the stepparent will also be taken into account.
Awards are made annually. We ask all families to submit the financial aid application by February 6, 2012.
Prospective families who submit financial aid forms by the deadline will be notified of the financial aid grant within one week of their admission decision letter.
Returning families who apply by this deadline will insure they will receive first consideration in the awarding of grant money.
Completed Financial Aid applications received after the February 6th deadline will be assessed as soon as possible if funds are still available. It is extremely important to submit the financial aid application on time, as there are budgetary limits to the available funds.
To receive a financial aid application:
- Mark the appropriate space on your child's application
- Packets will be mailed out beginning in December
- Do not wait until a child is accepted to apply for aid, as funds are allocated early.
