Erica
F. Moore joined MICDS full time in June, 2008 as Director of Diversity.
No stranger to the MICDS community, Erica was already known to many as
the Assistant Girls Varsity Basketball Coach. In her new role, Erica is
committed to helping the School fulfill its mission to educate and
prepare children to live in a global world, and to create and sustain
an equitable, inclusive, and just community.
Her
responsibilities include coordinating the School’s diversity efforts,
mentoring and supporting students and their families, assisting hiring
and retention efforts, leading outreach into the greater St. Louis
community, and helping the MICDS community deepen its collective
awareness. She serves as a member of the School’s administrative team
and the All School Diversity Council.
With
a background in communications and business development, Erica has been
a leader in diverse work environments, and has designed and delivered
workplace inclusiveness training programs. “A mindset and understanding
of inclusion is crucial to the personal and professional growth of
every individual in today’s world. MICDS is on the cutting edge in
providing the best education for its students. I am excited to be a
part of the effort in building our leaders of tomorrow, and providing
an amazing learning and working environment for all in the MICDS
community,” she explains.
An active
community volunteer, Moore serves on the Board for the YWCA of Greater
St. Louis, whose mission is to “Eliminate Racism and Empower Women.”
She has been a member of the local organizing committee for both the
2005 NCAA Men’s Final Four and the upcoming 2009 NCAA Women’s Final
Four basketball tournaments. She is also a Youth in Training Teacher
for Shalom Church (City of Peace) in St. Louis. In her free time, she
enjoys traveling, reading, and volunteer work with youth.
