The MICDS Enrichment Program provides students in Grades Junior Kindergarten-8th Grade with additional learning opportunities that are both fun and rewarding. Students are encouraged to explore their interests, strengthen their friendships, and challenge themselves, all while having a good time after school.

• MICDS offers after school enrichment opportunities throughout the year.
• Classes typically meet for 6-8 weeks, from 3:30-4:30 pm.
• Classes are taught by MICDS teachers, and by teachers from outside organizations.
• Some classes are for an additional fee, and some are for no additional cost.

  • Chess Club Grades SK-4

    The En Passant Chess Club helps to expose kids of all ages to chess, even if they have no prior knowledge or experience.  Students will participate in a tournament that will end with a medal and trophy presentation on the final day.   This class is open to students in Grades Kindergarten through Four.

  • COCA Sculpture Safari Grades 1-3

    In this COCA class, students will explore the animal kingdom through a variety of sculpture media. Students will use clay, wood, even handmade paper to create three-dimensional creatures of all kinds. The class will emphasize construction and shape recognition and help students to link physical skills with their imagination.  This class is open to students in Grades One through Three.

    Mrs. Lee, our Librarian, combines crochet skills with school projects in this class.  Students will work on crocheting a pencil holder and will have an opportunity to design their own project as well.  Classes are open to students in Grades Three through Five.

    Brought to you by Mr. Ives, our Lower School drama teacher, this drama troupe will adapt a children's book to create a shadow play.  Students will record voices and sound effects, and then create scenery and shadow puppets to be used in a video production. The performance will be shared digitally with families.  This class is open to students in Grades Two through Five.

    Taught by the Fencing Academy, our Camp Pegasus fencing teachers, students will be able to participate in a sport that develops athleticism, critical thinking, sportsmanship and competitiveness while proving children a dynamic and creative outlet for their energy.   Students will practice the 3 types of fencing ( foil - epee and saber) in addition to the stretching, footwork, drills and duels.  There will be small tournament on the last class, where medals and trophies will be distributed.  Students of all levels are welcome.  This class is open to students in Grades Three through Seven.

    Taught by Senora Soledad, young chefs will learn how to prepare delicious French recipes while exploring French culture and learning basic words in French.  What is on the menu during these six sessions class?  Children will cook and taste a “Croque Monsieur”, some traditional French “Crepes”, a classic French cake “Clafoutis aux Framboises”, “Chocolate Mousse”, a “Quiche Lorraine”, and finally a “Crème Chantilly with Profiteroles.”  This class is open to students in Grades One through Four.

    The Beasley Drum Ensemble is open to all Fourth Graders who enjoy playing tubano drums.  Students have the opportunity to experiment with a variety of drumming techniques and compose and improvise ensemble pieces. They then showcase their work by performing in the Winter Concert or as feature performers in the Beasley Chorus Spring Concert. Their motto is "We love to drum!”  This class is open to students in Fourth Grade.
