On the last day of March 2023, the MICDS Passport Series held its final event of the school year: a walking tour of historic Central West End. On a beautiful Friday morning, 18 MICDS parents and two tour guides from the Missouri History Museum partook in an expedition to learn about the Central West End and Saint Louis’ history.

Fun Fact #1: Ms. Aida Mayham purchased a large home as a single woman on Pershing, then treated thousands of people from around the world in her home practice and pioneered the field of electrolysis and hair removal.

Fun Fact #2: Still in existence and formed in 1890, The Wednesday Club of Saint Louis is a private, nonprofit organization in CWE founded by a group of socially active, educationally driven women seeking to learn and make an impact in their community.

Despite warnings of severe weather, the walking tour went off without a problem. Many parents and guardians expressed their excitement and appreciation for the event with its historical and educational presentations.

We look forward to next year’s Passport Series events. Meanwhile, if you have any ideas for creating an event to celebrate your heritage and culture, we would love to work with you to make it happen! Don’t hesitate to get in touch with us at passportseries@micds.org to get started.

Thank you to the MICDS Passport Series Committee for such wonderful events this school year!
