The communication and collaboration that technology can facilitate have transformed our 5th grade World Geography course into a Global Classroom. Schools from nearly a dozen countries, representing Europe, Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and Pacific Rim, are exchanging geographic and cultural information through a variety of media.
Exploring the world by interacting with its citizens and hearing their first-hand perspective makes for authentic, meaningful learning. Whether creating audio-visual books for students learning English, responding to blog posts from Denmark, crafting travel guides in Google Earth, or mailing care packages to Afghanistan, our students are developing an understand of and appreciation for our small, flat world.
