Halloween Drama Drive-through

Trick-or-Treat — A Spoooooky, Clever Halloween

Halloween in our MICDS community was celebrated in a number of heart-stopping and jack-o-lantern-grinning ways this year! From carving pumpkins and dressing up to acting out Halloween scenes and parading around in one’s costume, leave it to our Rams to figure out creative ways to celebrate the special occasion in this unique year!

Spooky Halloween Drive-Through

For the first time ever, Upper School drama students worked hard to create a spooky Halloween Drive-through. They set up scenes along Carpe Diem Drive where they could put their acting skills to the test. Ram families drove by witnessing zombies and witches, mad scientists and corpses! Attendees also received popcorn and glow sticks as they drove along. What a fun way to get into the Halloween spirit!

Lower School Halloween Parade

The annual Beasley Halloween Parade did not disappoint! Junior kindergarteners through 4th graders donned their costumes and paraded around Olson Hall to the tune of such holiday favorites as Thriller by Michael Jackson, Monster Mash by Bobby Pickett, and Ghostbusters by Ray Parker Jr. Parents and guardians weren’t able to watch the parade on campus but don’t worry—we were sure to take many photos and a video of the parade below. See if you can spot Mr. and Mrs. Rainey along with their dog Simba Nelson!

Dressing up in Middle School and 5th/6th Trunk-or-Treat

Of course, many a student dressed up in Middle School. Check out their creative costumes from bats, cows, and Winnie the Pooh characters to M&Ms, Starbucks baristas, and gumball machines!

Also, on Halloween Day, 5th and 6th grade students participated in a Trunk-or-Treat on campus. Cars were decked out in different themes along with students who got to spend some time with their friends while in their costumes!

Upper School Halloween Parade

Per tradition, only seniors in Upper School get to dress up in their costumes for Halloween. They paraded through the Upper School as lobsters, secret service agents, bananas, and the characters from Scooby-Doo to name just a few!

Zombie Make-Up Tutorial

Did we mention that in Upper School Performing Arts Teacher Carolyn Hood’s drama class, students had fun with a zombie make-up tutorial? Check out their acting make-up results here!

Pumpkin Bowling in the Upper School

You’ve heard of bowling, but have you ever heard of pumpkin bowling? Freshmen took to the MICDS fields in the gorgeous 70-degree weather this week to bowl with pumpkins on hills throughout campus. Next week, seniors will try the same thing. What a fun way to keep up the fall spirit while having fun in advisory!

Spooktacular Circuit Building Experience

Fourth graders in Lower School Science Teacher Laura Pupillo’s class are learning all about electricity. To master circuit building, Ms. Pupillo partnered with the Upper School to set up a Halloween-themed circuit building experience. Students created light-up Halloween circuit cards. Their cards were not only spooky, but they also taught the science of using a circuit push switch.

Grant Purdy ’21, MICDS Senior and Football Team Captain, collaborated virtually with 4th grade students. Below is a how-to video by Purdy along with photos from both Lower and Upper Schoolers creating their festive circuits! The instructions can also be found online here.

Pumpkin Carving and Contest

You might recall that our Parents Association delivered Pumpkin Decorating Kits to all of our Lower School families earlier in October. In addition to that, Upper School StuCo oversaw a school-wide Pumpkin Carving Contest for all Rams. See the results and the winners below followed by photos from the other participants!

We hope you had a safe, spooky, and Happy Halloween!
