Senior Completes Photojournalism Project on Blight in Downtown St. Louis

Ava Mandoli ’21 recently completed a photojournalism project on blight in the downtown St. Louis area as part of her final project in the Advanced Literary Topics Journalism class at MICDS. She took a number of photos and paired them with text, publishing the full piece here. Be sure to check it out! Upper School English Teacher David Doherty commented, «It was an outstanding project by Ava.»

Senior Earns National Football Foundation Scholar Athlete Scholarship

Head Football Coach Dr. Fred Bouchard nominated Grant Purdy ’21 to be named a National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete. On May 2, they attended the banquet at the MAC downtown along with football coaches Gary Bertolucci, Andy Kay, Nick Menneke, and Josh Smith. At the banquet, the St. Louis/Tom Lombardo Chapter of the National Football Foundation (NFF) awarded Grant an NFF Scholar-Athlete Scholarship!

The mission of the NFF is to promote and develop the power of amateur football in developing the qualities of leadership, sportsmanship, competitive zeal, and the drive for academic excellence in America’s young people.
Way to go, Grant!

Boys Lacrosse Comeback Victory Against De Smet

The MICDS Boys Lacrosse team defeated De Smet in their game on Friday, April 30. The game took place after the team lost to the De Smet Spartans on April 13, after a 99-game winning streak to in-state teams. As the team took on the Spartans once again, they gave the game their all and earned a comeback victory 10-9.
