Students Score High at American Mathematics Competitions

MICDS math students have excelled in their recent mathematics competitions. Six Upper Schoolers competed in the American Mathematics Competition (AMC) at the end of January. Benjamin Hollander-Bodie ’20, Jerry Zhang ’21, Jenna Zhao ’20 and Kevin Dong ’21 qualified for the American Invitational Mathematics Examination (AIME) on March 11. Dong earned the highest score at MICDS, and he and Zhao were recognized with a certificate of distinction for their scores.  

On Saturday, March 7, Dong and Hollander-Bodie competed in the Math League Qualifying Event at St. Charles Community College. Hollander-Bodie took 1st in the sprint and target rounds for seniors. Kevin placed 1st in the sprint round for juniors. Together, they placed fifth in the team round.
