The MICDS Enrichment Program provides students in Grades Junior Kindergarten-5th Grade with additional learning opportunities that are both fun and rewarding. Students are encouraged to explore their interests, strengthen their friendships, and challenge themselves, all while having a good time after school.

• MICDS offers after school enrichment opportunities throughout the year.
• Classes typically meet for 6-8 weeks, from 3:30-4:30 p.m.
• Classes are taught by MICDS teachers, and by teachers from outside organizations.

  • Amusement Park Adventures Grades 2-4

    Brought to you by Snapology, students will try to design the next Disney World using LEGOs and other building materials to create coasters and other awesome rides.  In the process students will also learn about engineering concepts, mechanical movement and energy, and problem solving.   Classes are open to students in Grades Two through Four.

    The En Passant Chess Club helps to expose kids of all ages to chess, even if they have no prior knowledge or experience.  Students will participate in a tournament that will end with a medal and trophy presentation on the final day.   This class is open to students in Grades Kindergarten through Four.

  • COCA Ballet Stories Grades JK/SK

    In this COCA class, students will explore some of the world’s best-loved ballets-including The Nutcracker, Cinderella, and Swan Lake-using movement, books, and stories.  Students will be introduced to concepts such as rhythm, patterns, and dance composition in an imaginative setting.  This class is open to students in Grades JK and SK.

  • COCA Fantasy Art Grades 2-4

    In this COCA class, students will create fantastical works of art inspired by books and movies like Harry Potter, Star Wars, and Narnia. They will draw wizards, time machines, castles, and dragons while exploring line, contour, proportion, and color theory. Don't miss this otherworldly art experience!

  • COCA Supersonic Superheroes Grades JK/SK

    Move over, Batman!  In this COCA class, students will be inspired to create their own superhero identities while creating capes, flying through the air, sticking to the ceiling, and walking through walls.  This class is open to students in Grades JK and SK.

    Brought to you by Mr. Ives, our Lower School drama teacher, this class offers fun for Pokemon collectors, enthusiasts and those who are brand new to these colorful critters.  Students will participate in activities (games, artwork, drama challenges) and will have the chance to show and tell about their own favorites.  Come share in the fun of celebrating this cultural phenomenon which started two decades ago and has spread around the globeNote: Students may bring cards but there will be NO card trading at school.  This class is open to students in Grades One through Four.

    Taught by Senora Soledad, young chefs will learn how to prepare delicious Cuban recipes while exploring Cuban culture and learning about Senora’s trip there last year!   Children will cook and taste a crunchy sánduche Cubano (Cuban sandwich), a traditional yuca con mojo (yucca root with garlic sauce), a guava cake, tostones and plátanos maduros (baked/fried plantains), a delicious fruit salad, and torrejasCubanas (French toast).  Thisclass is open to students in Grades Two through Four.

    Taught by the Fencing Academy, our Camp Pegasus fencing teachers, students will be able to participate in a sport that develops athleticism, critical thinking, sportsmanship and competitiveness while proving children a dynamic and creative outlet for their energy.   Students will practice the 3 types of fencing (foil - epee and saber) in addition to the stretching, footwork, drills and duels.  There will be a small tournament on the last class, where medals and trophies will be distributed.  Students of all levels are welcome.  This class is open to students in Grades Three through Five.
