A Successful Start to our Hybrid Learning Model

Our hybrid learning model of school is officially underway! After welcoming back many of our Middle and Upper Schoolers last week, this week, we welcomed back to campus many of our 7th, 9th, and 10th graders. Smiling eyes and warm gestures greeted students who were both brand new or returning to campus, and the energy of having many of our Rams back together again, with health and safety procedures in place, was palpable!

How does our new hybrid learning model for Middle and Upper Schoolers work? As of October 1, students in 5th and 6th grades are able to attend classes on campus every day. For the upper grades, 7th through 12th grades, students alternate by grade level between having a week of on-campus learning and having a week of distance learning from home. The groupings of students are by grade levels. In other words, for one week, 7th, 9th, and 10th graders are on campus while 8th, 11th, and 12th graders are distance learning from home. The following week, the opposite occurs: 7th, 9th, and 10th graders are distance learning from home while 8th, 11th, and 12th graders are on campus. Additionally, families always have the option to do distance learning from home 100% of the time. While this learning structure launched this month for Middle and Upper Schoolers, Lower Schoolers have continued with daily on-campus learning since the start of the school year with the option to learn from home if preferred.

As many Rams returned last week and this week, new safety procedures and processes have been in place. There are different entry points to campus based on grade level. Specific one-way routes have been mapped out throughout buildings. A new path for picking up lunch from the dining hall has been laid out. Check out the videos of Charger, the Ram, demonstrating the new processes for picking up lunch in the Middle School and Upper School, respectively. Needless to say, school is set up a little differently even for those who are returning. With the agility, innovative nature, and hard work of our faculty and staff along with the guidelines for health and safety in place, the fall hybrid model is certainly off to a strong start!
