After-School Activities Cancelled Due to Severe Weather

With strong storms in the forecast this afternoon, MICDS is canceling all after-school activities today, May 8. This includes all extracurricular activities and athletic practices and games, both at home and away. The Middle School ASAP program and Lower School Extended Day program are also canceled. Please make arrangements to pick up your children at our usual dismissal time today (3 p.m. for Lower School, 3:15 p.m. for Middle and Upper School). Campus will be closed at 4:00 p.m. Please note: the Band Concert scheduled for this evening will be rescheduled for tomorrow night, Thursday, May 9, with the 6th/7th Grade Band Concert beginning at 6 p.m. and the 8th Grade/Upper School Bands performing at 7:30 p.m. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Bernard Berry.

Upper School Yearbook Makes Splash in Showcase

The 2020 Upper School yearbook, the Phoenix, was selected for the Herff Jones Portfolio Showcase! The book, guided by Editor-in-Chief Caroline Latta ’20, is featured in the Herff Jones publication on a whole spread and online! „Although this is not the first time our MICDS Upper School yearbook has been selected for the showcase, this is the largest feature we’ve had to date,“ shares Ms. Colleen Williamson, Upper School Yearbook Co-Sponsor. Congratulations to Caroline and the whole yearbook team on this outstanding recognition of their work on the yearbook!

Erb Competes in the Tournament of Champions

Senior Evan Erb ’21 competed last Friday in the MICDS Tournament of Champions. Congratulations to Evan for making it to the singles championship match!

Ram Featured in Article as Future IWU Basketball Player

Nick Roper ’21 is highlighted in this Pantagraph article for joining Illinois Wesleyan University to study and play basketball in the fall. In the article, his new coach is quoted saying, „Nick is truly a unique talent at our level. He could probably play four positions on the floor. He has tremendous ball skills and court vision. He will be a stat stuffer. He’s an incredibly versatile player.”

Senior Writes Op-Ed in The KC Star

Jonah Zacks ’21 wrote an op-ed for The Kansas City Star that was published on Thursday. In his article, he writes about politics and democracy, and encourages the people of Missouri to get to know their legislators and statewide officials. Read his article here.

Freshman Makes Top 100 Players Ranking for Class of 2024

Congratulations to Ella Etherington ’24 who was named to the top 100 players of the Class of 2024 by Max Field Hockey. Check out the announcement here!
