Rising Junior's Team Wins St. Louis Rowing Club's Midwest Championship Competition
Congratulations to Layla Gilbert ’26 who was part of a St. Louis Rowing Club women’s novice 8 boat that won at the Midwest Championships last weekend! Way to represent MICDS on the water, Layla!
14 Juniors Compete in Battle of Burets
Last week, 14 AP® Chemistry MICDS juniors went to « battle it out » in a competition called the Battle of Burets, a titration competition. Titration is a lab technique used to determine the unknown concentration of a solution based on the known concentration of another solution. This technique is a tedious one; however, it is extremely rewarding as you can see the chemicals rapidly change colors. Titrations allow you to do « detective work, » and Battle of the Burets celebrates this kind of effort.
The Battle of Burets has not occurred since the pandemic, so it was great to see this event return this year. To participate, pairs of our chemistry students battled to be the best titrators in the region by determining the normality of an unknown acid solution. Congratulations to the following titrators who earned red, blue, and gold certificates!

12 Middle School Rams Soar in Twain/Truman Reading Challenge
MICDS Middle School students took on a reading challenge in the beginning of the year: read at least 10 of the 12 Twain or Truman book nominees for the current school year, and earn a pizza party! Each student who met their goal got an entire pizza to themselves on Monday, plus cookies and lemonade.

Rams Baseball is Heading to the Semifinals
The MICDS Rams Baseball team defeated Park Hills Central 4-2 during the quarterfinals on Thursday. The Rams are semifinals-bound, something that hasn’t happened since 2016. They’ll be going to Springfield next week. Let’s go Rams Baseball!
Boys Lacrosse Competes at State Tonight
The MICDS Boys Lacrosse team defeated Desmet in the State Semifinals on Tuesday and Wednesday—the game was held across two days due to weather. The Rams won 14-8. Girls Lacrosse Wins Semifinals
On Thursday, the Girls Lacrosse team defeated Marquette 20-10 in the Missouri Scholastic Lacrosse Association semifinals. Check out the game recap on STL Today here. The article highlights the many assists by Ava Goldson ’24, who has a chance of earning the state record in assists at the final game which is scheduled for Saturday, May 25 at 1 p.m. against Eureka at Missouri Baptist University.
This will be the 18th MSLA championship game appearance by the Rams in the 24-year history of the State tournament. The team also defeated Ladue 14-8 on Tuesday. Keep it up, Rams!
State Doubles Boys Tennis Team Advances to Championship this Weekend
Congratulations to our Boys Tennis State Doubles team Arjun Puri ’25 and Max Padratzik ’27, who took 3rd place in the State Individual Doubles Tournament last Friday, May 17. They will return with their team this weekend as the Rams chase a championship.
Track & Field Sectional Stars and Coppel Sets New School Record in 800 Meter Run
At last weekend’s track & field Sectionals, the Rams did incredibly well! Grace Coppel ’25 ran a new school record in the 800-Meter Run with a time of 2:15.36. The previous record holder was Julie Stupp ’04 with a time of 2:16.49 set in 2004.
- Ellemieke Ferguson ’27, Janet He ’24, Maitland Michaelson ’27, and Sophia Goodwin ’25 qualified in the 4×800 Meter Relay with a time of 10:12.08, finishing in 4th place.
- Justyce Sanders ’27 qualified in the 200-Meter Dash with a time of 25.68, finishing in 4th place.
- Justyce Sanders ’27 qualified in the 400-Meter Dash with a time of 55.80, finishing in 2nd place.
- Grace Coppel ’25 qualified in the 800-Meter Run with a time of 2:15.36, finishing in 4th place.
- Alli Thelen ’25 qualified in the Pole Vault with a jump of 3.05m, finishing in 3rd place.
- Nicole Green ’24 qualified in the Long Jump with a jump of 5.48m, finishing in 3rd place.
- Nicole Green ’24 qualified in the Triple Jump with a jump of 11.03m, finishing in 4th place.
- Henry Rohan ’26 in the 100-Meter Dash with a time of 10.86, finishing in 2nd place.
- Jeremiah Clay ’24 qualified in the 100-Meter Dash with a time of 11.00, finishing in 2nd place.
- Tristan Williams ’24 in the 200-Meter Dash with a time of 21.84, finishing in 1st place.
- Henry Rohan ’26 in the 200-Meter Dash with a time of 22.58, finishing in 4th place.
- Tristan Williams ’24 in the 400-Meter Dash with a time of 48.68, finishing in 1st place.
- Jeremiah Clay ’24, Tristan Williams ’24, Anik Jukanti ’25, and Henry Rohan ’26 in the 4×200 Meter Relay with a time of 1:27.96, finishing in 1st place.
