Upper Schoolers Collaborate and Rejuvenate During Winter Term Activities

During Winter Term, Upper Schoolers who took courses on campus throughout the early January weeks also got to participate in a variety of activities. There were several days when students could choose an activity, and there were several that everyone experienced together. Adding these activities among their two Winter Term courses per day rounded out the whole experience to include a lot of opportunities for collaboration, rejuvenation, and learning.

Check out the activities that students could participate in listed below!

  • A Campus Walk
  • Community Service Day
  • Creative Thinking/Writing
  • Gallery Walk
  • Guided Meditation
  • Ping Pong
  • Rec Sports
  • Tai Chi

During Community Service Day, students made dog toys in the McDonnell Gymnasium for a local shelter out of old t-shirts and they made paper cranes in the McCulloch Library for the Wishing Crane Project. There was also a Body/Wellness Day where students chose from such activities as meditation, tai chi, rec sports, or having a campus walk. Additionally, students attended a Student Town Hall Forum run by MICDS Congress and had a guest speaker for the PERIOD club. The guest speaker was Anne Sebert Kuhlmann, PhD, MPH of Saint Louis University’s College for Public Health & Social Justice. She spoke to the students about her work in Ethiopia and in Missouri around “period poverty,” when people who menstruate don’t have access to feminine products.  Dr. Kuhlmann shared some of the steps we can take to help alleviate some of the needs in our area through donations, education, and advocacy.

Whatever the activity was for the day, our Upper Schoolers leaned into the day, expressing lives full of purpose and service, confidence and compassion. Go Rams!
