Two Rams Earn Second and Third Place for Research Presentations at SLU SoM Summer Scholars Program

Two of our Rams participated in four weeks of the School of Medicine Summer Scholars program hosted by the SLU Office of Ignatian Mission in Medicine. The program is “designed to further expose interested youth to medicine and health care.” In the program, students meet with different health care professionals and participate in a cadaver demonstration, take a tour of Saint Louis University’s campus and the St. Louis area, complete a research project, participate in a community service project, and receive several hours of ACT preparation.

Congratulations to Alana Chandler ’26, whose group earned silver place for their deep insights into Comparative Efficacy of Psychotherapy and Pharmacology Treatment in Depression Management. Congratulations also to Kaviya Senthilkumar ’27 and her group in earning third place for their innovative thinking around AI versus Human Physicians in Diagnosis.

Faust Highlighted as MVP the Spring's Missouri Scholastic Lacrosse Association Class 2 Championship

Over the summer, Graham Faust ’26 was profiled in West Newsmagazine as the MVP of this spring’s Missouri Scholastic Lacrosse Association Class 2 championship, where he helped lead the MICDS Rams to victory with five goals and two assists.

After securing a lacrosse state title, this multi-sport athlete, who also shines as a receiver and defensive back in football, is now aiming for a football state championship this fall. A true leader on and off the field, Faust’s dedication and talent make him a player to watch!

Rising Senior Makes Missouri Olympic Development Program Team

Samson Gibli ’26 was named to the 2024-2025 Missouri Olympic Development Program Team for the U.S. Youth Soccer organization for the third consecutive year. The Missouri Youth Soccer Association’s Olympic Development Program identifies and develops top players registered within the state of Missouri to promote development through quality coaching and to help these players gain recognition on the Regional and National levels. Go Samson!

Track Stars Set New School Records

The MICDS Track & Field record board was recently updated with five new records set in the 2025 season! Congratulations to the new record holders:

  • Henry Rohan ’26 – 100m
  • Justyce Sanders ’27 – 200m and 400m
  • Grace Coppel ’25 – 800m
  • Grace Coppel ’25, Morgan Macam ’26, Blaike Borders ’28, & Justyce Sanders ’27 – 4×400 Relay

Senior Ran Sound for Local Production at the Tennessee Williams Festival

Charlie Mills ’26, fresh from his Superior Rating in Set Design at the International Thespian Festival in June, ran sound for the production of A Streetcar Named Desire, which is part of the 10th anniversary season of the Tennessee Williams Festival St. Louis.

Mills was joined by alum Joe Intagliata ’24 as light board operator and Upper School Fine & Performing Arts Teacher Patrick Huber as set designer. Huber shared, “The programming skills Charlie has learned during his work at MICDS are very useful as he works with professionals in the St. Louis theater community, including director Michael James Reed, stage manager Shannon Sturgis, audio tech Phil Evans, and assistant director Zach Stefaniak.” The show opened August 7 at the Grandel Theater and ran through August 17.

Senior Named to Sports Illustrated List: Top 25 Missouri Tight Ends You Should Know

Congratulations to Gabe Weaver ’26 on being named a Top 25 Missouri Tight End You Should Know by Sports Illustrated – High School! Verbally committed to Minnesota, Weaver is a three-star recruit by 247Sports (#9 Missouri, #1 tight end for 2026). The 247Sports Composite ranks him as the #620 national prospect, #32 tight end, and #7 in Missouri. He was also a Class 5 second-team all-state selection.

Additionally, this week, STL Today featured Weaver in an article that highlights his growth over the summer, his versatility on the football field and in the three sports he plays, his commitment to the University of Minnesota, and his excitement about the MICDS football season. Let’s go, Gabe!

Sophomore Earns Scholarships for Piano and Clarinet

Michelle Chao ’28 is the recipient of two 2025-2026 Community Music School of Webster Artistic Merit Scholarships: the Franklin Aker Memorial Scholarship for piano and the Ella A. Heimburger Scholarship for clarinet. The scholarship audition process is designed to reflect the high standards of performance excellence required of scholarship students. Congratulations, Michelle!

Jordyn Haywood '28 Ranked #5 Recruit by ESPN, Helps USA U16 National Team Earn Gold

Jordyn Haywood ’28 is now ranked 5th in the nation for the Class of 2028 according to ESPN’s “2028 SportsCenter NEXT – Terrific 25” list. This list is the top 25 ranked high school basketball players from the class of 2028 as compiled by ESPN’s SportsCenter NEXT program. Keep reaching for the stars, #30!

At the FIBA U16 Women’s AmeriCup quarterfinal matchup in June, the U.S. made history by setting a new tournament record, beating Panama by 119 points and setting a new assist record. Twenty of those points were scored by Haywood, going 4-for-4 from 3-point range. The team eventually won gold, defeating Canada in the final with a score of 108-71. Congratulations, Jordyn, on an outstanding performance at the national level! Read the finals game recap here!

Ever wonder what it’s like to be a rising basketball star? A recent feature from West Newsmagazine offers a rare peek into the mind of Haywood! After an incredible freshman year, bringing home gold with the USA U16 National Team, and being named by ESPN as the #5 top recruit, Haywood shares how she stays “humble and hungry” through it all.

Rising Freshman's Success in USA Girls Junior National Volleyball Championship

This summer, Natasha Schultz ’29 competed at the USA Girls Junior National Volleyball Championship. Competing against top teams nationwide, Schultz’s team delivered an outstanding performance, finishing third overall in the tournament. In addition to her team’s success, Schultz earned individual recognition for her exceptional play, being named to the All-Tournament Team in her age group—a prestigious honor given to top athletes in the competition. Congratulations to Natasha on this incredible achievement on the national stage. Go Rams!

Rising Third Grader Competes in Prestigious Ice Hockey Development Program

Axel M. ’35 recently wrapped up his spring hockey season competing with the CCM Chicago Brick Futures Team, a prestigious development program that identifies top young talent from Illinois, Wisconsin, and Missouri. Through a highly selective evaluation process, Axel was invited to participate in events at Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, and Chicago, where he showcased his skills among some of the top 2017-born players in the USA and Canada. While the Brick Futures program does not guarantee a spot on the final CCM Brick Invitational roster, it serves as a key stepping stone toward the Brick Invitational Tournament in Edmonton—one of the most elite youth hockey tournaments in North America. Axel’s inclusion in the Futures program is a strong reflection of his talent, work ethic, and potential at the highest level of youth hockey. Way to go, Axel!

First Grader Becomes National Champion at Dance Competition

Congratulations to Dakota B. ’37 on becoming a two-time National Champion and ID Icon at the ID Dance Competition earlier this month in Ohio! Dakota is a competitive dancer at Expressions Academy of Dance in Belleville, Illinois, and loves performing on stage and learning new skills. She is super proud of herself for becoming a National Champion at only six years old! We’re proud of you, too, Dakota!
