Lower School enrichment is where learning and fun collide! This fall, our after-school program is filled with exciting experiences, including animal menageries, golf, superheroes, Hogwarts, and more. When the school day ends, our youngest students continue their learning journey through hands-on classes designed for curious minds. They’re turning LEGO creations into robots, designing animal habitats, tapping golf balls on the green, and exploring theater both on and off stage.
The Lower School enrichment program sparks academic growth and social-emotional development. Students build new friendships, gain confidence, and learn the importance of teamwork in a supportive and engaging environment. All of our courses are taught by MICDS teachers and vetted outside organizations, ensuring a high-quality experience tailored to our students’ interests.
In addition to scouts, strings, and piano, this fall’s classes include:
- Chess by En Passant Chess Club: Students of all skill levels learn strategy and master the game with expert instructors.
- Beasley Acting Club: Young artists discover the stage through acting, stage makeup, lighting, and more.
- Golf by Golf Squad: Budding athletes develop their swings and learn the fundamentals of the sport.
- Animal Menagerie: Students become junior zoologists as they create habitats and observe animal behaviors.
- Supersonic Superheroes by COCA: Young learners unleash their inner heroes as they explore creative movement and storytelling.
- Junior Robotics: Builders turn LEGO bricks into programmable robots.
- Ready, STEM, Go!: Students explore the science all around us, from animal life to exciting physics and telecommunications.
- All Aboard the Hogwarts Express: Young enchanters immerse themselves in the magical world of Harry Potter.

Director of Extended Day Matt Blair emphasizes the significance of enrichment in our students’ education. “After-school enrichment is about more than just extended learning; it’s where we foster a child’s natural curiosity and let them discover what truly excites them. By offering a wide range of hands-on courses, we’re giving students the space to try new things and have fun in a rewarding after-school environment.”
Whether a student is a budding artist or a future inventor, our Lower School enrichment courses offer something for everyone. It’s a place where imagination takes flight, creativity flourishes, and lifelong memories are made!
