Senior Earns Joanne Stremsterfer Annual Prize through Young Artists' Showcase
Congratulations to Gigi Koster ’26 on receiving the Joanne Stremsterfer annual prize! Koster is the only artist from MICDS to receive an award in the 2026 Young Artists’ Showcase for her sculpture “Vida Podrida.”
2025 Track Record Added to MICDS Records Board
The 2025 Girls 4×4 relay broke a school record last season, and their names were recently added to the records board. Congratulations to Justyce Sanders ’27, Blaike Borders ’28, Morgan Macam ’26, and Grace Coppel ’25! They broke the record set in 2015 by Geneva Lee ’16, Margaret Sliney ’16, Paige Glover ’16, and Caitlyn Peters ’15.


Jordyn Highlighted as America's Fifth-Best Sophomore Basketball Player
Jordyn Haywood ’28 is featured in a March 12 article in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. She’s ranked as the fifth-best sophomore girls basketball player in the entire nation, she’s close to becoming the career points leader at MICDS (as a sophomore or early junior), and she has an average 25.7 points per game. She is a Team USA player with 15 college offers already. Read about her basketball journey, her mentality, and help cheer her on throughout the rest of the season. Go Jordyn!

Sophomore Announced as High School Athlete of the Week
Congratulations to Riha Obinegbo ’28, who was highlighted on March 11 as a High School Athlete of the Week by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch! Obinegbo is a guard on the Varsity Girls Basketball team. She helped the Rams secure the Class 5 District 3 title by earning double figures in points in the district game and the two games leading up to it. This season, Obinegbo averages 11.3 points, 2.2 rebounds, 1.9 steals, and 1.7 assists per game. Way to go, Riha!
Freshman Places Third in Chess Tournament
Congratulations to Soham Gadi ’29 who earned third place in the K–9 division at the 2026 Missouri State Chess Tournament, organized by the Gateway Chess Association at Battle High School in Columbia, Missouri. The tournament brought together the top players from across Missouri to compete in multiple divisions. Gadi finished third in a highly competitive field of more than 25 players in the K–9 section, earning an individual trophy for his performance. Way to go, Soham!
Varsity Boys Basketball Wins District Championship
Securing a Spot at Districts
Last Thursday, March 5, the MICDS Boys Basketball team dominated Ladue, winning 61-29 and securing a place in the District Championship game. KSDK shared the recap video below of the “battle of the Rams” game last week.

Next, in the Class 5 District 3 Championship game against McCluer North, MICDS was behind at the half, but rallied from behind to secure the 48-44 victory. Attend Playoffs this Weekend
Cheer on the Boys Basketball team this weekend at the playoffs. On Saturday, March 14, the Boys Basketball team is taking on Holt at Francis Howell North at 4 p.m. There is a $10 digital ticket entry available for purchase at MSHSAA.ORG. The games will also be streamed at MSHSAA.TV if you want to watch online.
A District Championship Win for Varsity Girls Basketball
Congratulations to the MICDS Girls Varsity Basketball team on winning the Class 5 District 3 Championship, defeating University City last Friday, 59-48! They head to the State quarterfinals vs. St. Dominic this Friday, March 13 at 6 p.m. at Fort Zumwalt West. There is a $10 digital ticket entry available for purchase at MSHSAA.ORG. MICDS Middle School Cheerleaders Earn 2nd Place at LPA Competition
The MICDS Middle School Cheerleading Team made program history last weekend, earning second place at the Lafayette Preparatory Academy Cheerleading Competition, hosted by Lafayette Preparatory Academy and held at the Gene Slay Boys and Girls Club. The Rams competed in the Halftime Routine Division alongside four other teams from Lafayette Preparatory Academy, Hazelwood, Gateway Science Academy, and Premier Charter. The athletes showed tremendous dedication, focus, and teamwork as they prepared their routine. Coached by Varsity Cheer Coach Heather Day, who also choreographed the routine, the cheerleaders are proud of their hard work and the results they achieved through their commitment and team spirit.
