Beasley Spring Chorus Concert

Beasley Chorus Performs Way through St. Louis

The Beasley Chorus Spring Program was comprised of favorite songs that students learned this year, and included pieces from China, Ghana, France, Germany and the United States. Students accompanied their singing on Orff instruments and chimes, as well as choreographed dances to go with the vocal selections. Drum ensemble pieces, which originated from vocal ostinato patterns, were also included.

The program was tied together with a student-created script. “I presented the students with a fictional problem: an MICDS sign had a missing ‘i’,” said Ms. Barb Spieler, Lower School Music Specialist. “The students decided that they would look for the “i” in different locations in St. Louis, including the Missouri Botanical Garden, the Old Cathedral and the St. Louis Zoo. They even visited Ted Drewes! Fortunately, the ‘i’ was located by the end of the program. Who would have guessed that an ‘i’ could be disguised as an exclamation point!”

This program gave the Beasley Chorus members an opportunity to showcase their developing vocal skills in fun and creative ways—through singing, dancing and playing musical instruments. What a colorful, melodic show!
