To apply for the 2024-25 school year, please refer to the following steps.
For consideration in the first round of decisions for the 2024-25 school year, complete applications are due by January 9, 2024.
To get started, visit the MICDS Admission Portal. From there, you’ll be able to complete the Standard Application Online (SAO), schedule appointments, and track the progress of your application. For step-by-step instructions, here is our SAO ‘How-To’ Guide to walk you through the application site. First-round admission decisions for complete applications will be shared on March 8, 2024. Family enrollment decisions are due by Friday, March 29, 2024. After the first-round deadlines, MICDS practices rolling admissions based on availability by grade level.
Please note: The fee for domestic student applications is $40 and the fee for international student applications is $150.
A complete application includes:
- Online application including parent, student, supplemental sections, and application fee
- Official transcript and school records, including any standardized testing results, from the applicant’s current school
- Teacher recommendation from a current core subject teacher, using the form on the Standard Application Online (SAO) application
- Results of Admission Testing, taken using either the SSAT or the ISEE by February 5, 2024
- Family interview
- International applicants should include a graded writing sample from this academic year and a recent TOEFL Junior Test score, which should be sent to MICDS from ETS. Our TOEFL Junior Test school code is B730.

Schedule Interview
Interview with a member of our Faculty/Admission team.
We look forward to having a conversation with each applicant and parent(s) to get to know you better and to help you understand more about MICDS. We must have your application (parent, student, and supplement) submitted at least three days prior to your interview.
Interviews will begin in mid-November; you may schedule your interview using our online scheduler at the button below, or you may call the Admission Office at 314-995-7367 to schedule your interview.
Schedule Testing
Complete admission testing.
MICDS requires all applicants to Grades 5-12 to complete either the SSAT (Secondary School Admission Test) or the ISEE (Independent School Entrance Exam) as part of the application process. Both tests are excellent options, and we do not have a preference for either test.
Learn about and register for the SSAT here. MICDS will offer an in-person SSAT on December 9, though you can take the test at any location or by utilizing SSAT’s At Home option. You must register at least three weeks in advance of your preferred testing date. To have your scores sent to MICDS, please select MICDS as a score recipient when registering using the school code 4906. The cost of the SSAT varies by test, and fee waivers may be available for families applying for tuition assistance.
Applicants to grade 5 will have an in-person Elementary Level SSAT at MICDS on January 20, 2024 or January 27, 2024. Please contact admission@micds.org for 5th-grade SSAT registration information.
Learn about and register for the ISEE here. The ISEE is offered locally as well as with an At Home option. The cost of the ISEE varies by test, and fee waivers are available for families applying for tuition assistance.
Please note that MICDS requests that admission testing be taken no later than February 5, 2024 for all first-round Middle School applicants.
Apply for Tuition Assistance
Applying for tuition assistance is optional. This is a separate application and is submitted at the same time as the admissions application.
If you choose to apply for need-based tuition assistance, see the following steps and deadlines:
MICDS requires each family applying for tuition assistance to place a confidential online application through Clarity by completing the Tuition Assistance Application and submitting supporting 2021 and 2022 tax documentation. It is extremely important to submit the tuition assistance application on time, as there are budgetary limits to the available funds. Do not wait until a child is accepted to apply for aid. Please visit our Tuition and Affordability web page or read our Affording MICDS Brochure for more information on how to apply.
First Round tuition assistance application deadlines:
- November 20, 2023 – The filing deadline for all current students.
- December 8, 2023 – The filing deadline for new 9th-grade applicants.
- January 31, 2024 – The filing deadline for new applications for all other grade levels.
Adhering to the submission deadlines is essential for first-round admission consideration. Beyond first-round admission decisions, the tuition assistance application is due with the submission of the admissions application. The availability of tuition assistance may be limited.
Decisions and notification:
Applying for tuition assistance does not affect the admission decision. The admission decision is a separate process from the tuition assistance determination and is led by a separate committee. The Committee on Tuition Assistance deliberations are confidential and address only factors affecting the assessment of financial need. Prospective families can expect a tuition assistance decision at the same time as their admission decision.

Tuition and Affordability
All students should have access to an extraordinary education.
