Head of MS Jen Schuckman Welcomes Students
Head of Middle School Jen Schuckman welcomed her students to the 2025-2026 school year in an assembly in Mary Eliot Chapel. Here are her remarks.
Happy first day, Middle School!
What a special moment for Ram Nation! We gather together this morning in our happy place—the beautiful Mary Eliot Chapel—to acknowledge and honor the 404 incredible individuals who make our middle school community so extraordinary. Each of you comes to our school with your own unique talents and gifts that will brighten our days and strengthen our middle school. For many of you, this is Day 1 at MICDS, and we are so lucky that you joined our school.
Let’s begin today by welcoming our classes…
First, our sweet fifth graders: today, you begin your Middle School chapter. We are so very glad you are here, and I encourage you to be brave as you navigate these new hallways and classrooms. Always remember that there is a friendly face around every corner ready to help you.
Sixth grade, you are no longer the new kids on the block, and you are taking big steps this year in your learning and responsibility. Remember to set a positive example as you build the reputation of your class.
Seventh graders, today, the Class of 2031 takes shape as you grow in size. You have much to learn about each other and from one another this year. Push yourself to initiate conversation with new faces and aim to build strong connections in your class community.
Eighth graders, this is your time to shine with your wisdom and experience. What will be the legacy of the Class of 2030? Make the most of this year and set the tone for what we should expect from one another. We will look to you to lead our middle school with integrity and spirit.
Let’s have a spectacular day, Middle School! And do the right thing…
