2nd Graders Participate in Girl Scouts’ Big Day Parade

The MICDS 2nd Grade Brownie Troop, led by parents Lynn Schmidt and Krystal White (also a Middle School Math Teacher), was honored to participate as a walking unit in the Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri’s “Big Day” Parade (at Soldier’s Memorial), celebrating the Girl Scouts’ 100th birthday. Though thousands of people attended the parade on September 22, the MICDS troop was one of only 10 troops selected to walk in the parade itself. The students were chosen for their creativity in illustrating “What a Girl Scout Cookie can do.” Their ideas included:
“Cookies sales help girls learn decision making.”
“A cookie can cheer up a soldier far from home.”
“Cookie sales teach girls business ethics.”

The MICDS troop wore colorful signs depicting their ideas and had a wonderful time participating in the parade.

Members of the 2nd Grade Brownie Troop are: Raina Compton, Elizabeth Schmidt, Isabel Link, Anagayle Senn, Layla David, Erica Engelhardt, Bianca Machain, Hannah Zar, Julia Ray, Mat-Mat Hardy, Lucy Zimmer, Jane Cohen, Chloe Cheng, Jordan Glover, Jordan Miller, Carol Quieroz and Duda Melo.
