7th Graders Explore Meaning of French Animated Film on Field Trip

On Monday, 7th grade French students went on a field trip to Alliance Française de Saint Louis, the center for French language, culture and activities. The students watched Le roi et l’oiseau (The King and the Mockingbird), a masterpiece of animation with Paul Grimault’s direction and Jacques Prévert’s poetic dialogue. The director of Alliance Française, Mme Isabelle Heidbreder, introduced the history of the movie and led a discussion with the students about the message this movie tried to convey in disguise of a children’s animation. Mme Heidbreder also presented briefly the services Alliance Française provide.
