2018 Upper School Fall Choir Concert
Last Friday, Upper School choir students performed in their first big concert of the year— the Fall Concert. Students from grades 9 to 11 performed a range of songs from “Rhapsody” by Rollo A. Dilworth and “What a Wonderful World” arranged by Russ Robinson to “Shoshone Love Song” arranged by Roger Emerson and “I’ll Say It Anyway!” by Pierre Certon. The 12th grade Chamber Choir sang a variety of songs as well, including “Wanting Memories” by Ysaye M. Barnwell and “Come (Again) Sweet Death” by J.S. Bach. They closed out the evening with “Bridge Over Troubled Water” by Paul Simon and arranged by Kirby Shaw.
A standing ovation goes to our choir students and Upper School Choir Director Dana Self! We’re already counting down the days to the next performance, the Winter Masterworks Concert on Wednesday, December 12.
MICDS has nine students selected to perform with the prestigious St. Louis Metro District Choir. To qualify, each student prepared a 90-second solo and completed an intense sight-singing audition.
Juniors and seniors with an asterisk (*) scored in the top 20 of their respective voice parts and will audition for the 2019 Missouri All-State Choir held at MICDS on Thursday, November 1, 2018.
