Alert

Remote Learning Day - Wednesday, February 19

Due to hazardous road conditions, MICDS will move to remote learning today, Wednesday, February 19. Middle and Upper School classes will begin at 9:00 a.m., and those students are expected to log in on time and follow their usual late-start class schedule. Links to teacher Zoom pages can be found on their Canvas Announcement pages. Lower School families should look for an email from their child's homeroom teacher with information about possible work for the day. All on-campus activities are canceled, and all parking lots at MICDS will be closed to facilitate snow plows. All after-school activities are canceled with the exception of varsity athletics, which we will communicate about by noon.

Diversity of Faith

A Deep Dive into Monotheistic Faiths

On Tuesday, MICDS parents came together as part of our Community Interfaith Series. They gathered to continue learning about the diversity of faith in our School community. Specifically, they discussed three widely-practiced, monotheistic faiths: Christianity, Judaism and Islam.

Speakers from each of those faiths included:

  • Reverend Terrie Deloge, Associate Pastor of Gateway:61 Church – Christianity
  • Rabbi Elizabeth Hersh, Senior Rabbi at Temple Emanuel – Judaism
  • Imam Kacem Djilali Imam of Masjid Dar Aljalal in Hazelwood – Islam

The Reverend, Rabbi and Imam each respectively shared the tenets of their faith. Parents were then able to share with others about some of their own beliefs and ways of prayer. Small table discussions created a warm, welcoming atmosphere for parents to learn about the diversity of faiths in their school.

Save the date! The next Community Interfaith Series event will focus on Hinduism and Buddhism on March 6, 2019. Upper School students are welcome to attend.
