Connected Families Celebrate MICDS Acceptances with a Happy Honk

One of our favorite moments during the admission season is celebrating our newly accepted students. Typically, we host celebration breakfasts on campus to recognize these acceptances. With this year being anything but typical due to the pandemic, our creative, enthusiastic admission team is hosting safe and socially distant drive-through or walk-through celebrations instead. First up was the Celebration Drive-Through for our newly accepted junior kindergarten students who applied under the Family Early Action Option (FEAO).

The special application option is for children of MICDS alumni, faculty, or staff as well as for children whose siblings are current MICDS students. These connected families have an earlier application period than all other grade levels at our School. After receiving acceptance notifications last week, families were invited to the very first admission celebration drive-through held on Tuesday—and what fun it was!

With pom-poms, cowbells, and “Home of a Future Ram” yard signs, our faculty, staff, cheer team, and parent/student Rambassadors lined the route for these soon-to-be junior kindergarten students. Each family drove along with their admitted JKer waving among the balloons to the welcoming MICDS community. They received welcome gifts, met mascot Charger the Ram, and even received a special coloring book to take home.

Some of the accepted students finished their coloring pages as soon as they returned home and many of their parents shared that their new student was ready to start school at MICDS the very next day!

What a wonderful occasion of coming together while being safely spaced apart to welcome our growing Rams family! Thank you to all who helped celebrate this special moment and a huge congratulations to the new accepts!
