Eight Students Pitch Perfect at Metro District Choir Auditions

Eight MICDS students recently made big soundwaves as they were selected by audition to perform with the 2017 St. Louis Metro District Choir. Major kudos to Hope Abel ’19 (Soprano), Nicholas Clifford ’20 (Bass), McKay Marshall ’19 (Soprano), Arjun Ramakrishnan ’20 (Bass)— and especially to Jack Cai ’19 (Bass), Izzy Essman ’18 (Soprano), Layth Hamed ’19 (Bass) and Nick Jones ’18 (Bass) for scoring in the top twenty of their respective voice parts and who are eligible to audition for the 2018 Missouri All-State Choir.

The St. Louis Metro district is comprised of students from the private/independent/parochial schools of St. Louis, the City of St. Louis Public Schools, and the Fort Zumwalt and Francis Howell School Districts. Each student performed a solo for a panel of three adjudicators, followed by a sight-singing and key signature identification audition.

The St. Louis Metro District Choir concert will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 4 p.m. The concert will be held at Manchester United Methodist Church (129 N. Woods Mill Road), directed by Kevin McBeth, director of the St. Louis Symphony IN UNISON Chorus.
