Eighth Graders Build Community With Fun Field Trip

The Class of 2027 is wrapping up their time in the Middle School and looking forward to moving to the Upper School campus in the fall. In the meantime, their teachers wanted to be sure they had one last chance for fun and bonding before wrapping up their eighth-grade year.

“The purpose of the trip is to build community and to celebrate the class of 2027 as they will be heading off to the Upper School very soon,” said Eighth Grade Math Teacher Dr. Jody Marberry.

Students spent the morning at the St. Louis Zoo where they completed a “selfie scavenger hunt” with friends. Scavenger hunt photos included:

  • Giant Insect Sculpture
  • Any Big Bear
  • Elephant Fountain
  • Penguins
  • Seal Tunnel
  • Herpetarium
  • Monkey House
  • Any Big Cats
  • Bird Cage
  • Eating Lunch Together
  • With an MICDS Faculty member (not your assigned chaperone) spotted in the wild

The students took to their task with gusto, as is clear by the fun photos that began rolling in almost immediately.

After the Zoo, the Class of 2027 headed over to the City Museum for more fun and exploration.

What a great way to close out their Middle School journey before heading to the Upper School!
