Expanding Fun and Learning in Lower School

When the academic day ends for Lower Schoolers (JK-4th), many students participate in a robust selection of after-school enrichment classes. Learning and having fun with art, music, magic, superheroes, sports, and more delights these young students to no end. All classes are taught by MICDS teachers or outside organizations and bring engagement, exploration, and challenges in exciting and new ways.

This year’s classes are a refreshing mix as many organizations return to schools after a nearly two-year hiatus. Director of Extended Day Matt Blair said, “I am excited to have an ‘as close to normal without saying the word normal’ set of enrichment classes this year! Parents are back in the building, grabbing a sneak peek as their child participates in a class. It has also opened up new class opportunities as organizations are returning to schools.”

Classes meet from 3:30-4:30 p.m. for six to eight weeks at different points in the semester. Early fall offerings include:

  • Field Hockey by AIM
  • Supersonic Superheroes by COCA
  • Story Magic by Abra-Kid-Abra
  • Chess by En Passant
  • Crazy Chemworks by Mad Science
  • Hip Hop Dance by Consuming Kinetics Dance Company
  • Yoga
  • World Cup Soccer Mania
  • Balloonatics by Abra-Kid-Abra
  • Bricks4Kidz
