Fourth Graders Video Chat with Class in California

This week, fourth graders connected with a school on the West Coast to discuss a book that each class is reading as part of Global Read Aloud — a program where classes all over the world read the same book at the same time.

“We have connected through Google hangouts with classes in California, New Hampshire, and Virginia,” said Mrs. Waters, fourth grade teacher. “We have also participated in writing activities online that have us connecting with students around the U.S. and Canada. We’d like to make connections all over the world. The kids love it!”

The program spans a period of 6 weeks, and was established to create a sense of community with other educators around the world as well as inspire students and teachers to continue these connections throughout the year.
