From the Desk of Jay Rainey – March 10, 2023

Today has marked a busy end to a busy week for all of us at MICDS, and as I write these words, I find with some regret that my time is not my own. Today’s letter will, accordingly, be very brief—but I do at least have time enough to share the results of a survey that I administered earlier this week. “As you look forward to spring break,” I asked all of our students, “what’s the first word that comes to mind for you?”

Here are the most common responses to that question:

The pace of today not permitting me the time that 1,000 words would require, I hope the picture above will suffice! I promise to do better next time.

January and February are invariably the longest months of the school year. We have found our way through them at MICDS once again—and through the opening days of March for good measure. Our spring break is well earned and deserved. My best wishes to you and your families for plentiful fun, sleep, relaxation, etc. over the course of the next two weeks. (See the list above for suggestions.) Always reason, always compassion, always courage. I will look forward to seeing you on the other side.
