Eliot Chapel filled with the beautiful voices of 7th and 8th graders on Monday night and again on Tuesday morning, at the annual MICDS Middle School Fall Choir Concert. This year’s theme was “An American Tapestry: How Can I Keep From Singing.”
Middle School Choir Teacher Mr. Jason Roberts put together a program that highlighted a variety of vocal stylings and encouraged our young singers to stretch and grow.
Mr. Roberts said that the program “takes us on a journey of American music and poets.” The composers took virtues of American goodwill and heartfelt thanks and put them into song, searching for meaning in the depths of challenging times and the heights of victories. “We have much to be thankful for,” said Mr. Roberts. “How can we keep from singing?”
The 7th and 8th grade choirs performed individually and combined, offering the audience entertainment that spanned from American spiritual works to the poetry of Emily Dickinson and Paul Lawrence Dunbar. Family and friends thoroughly enjoyed the evening event, as evidenced by the applause and cheers at the end. MICDS students, faculty and staff were treated to the Tuesday morning concert.
