May Day Postponement to Sunday

May Day Postponed to 5/4

In view of the latest forecasts predicting a higher probability of inclement weather tomorrow than the day after, MICDS is postponing this year’s May Day ceremony to Sunday, May 4. We will communicate with you again no later than 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, to share further information about the time and plan for Sunday afternoon's ceremony. We value the May Day tradition at MICDS and regret the uncertainty of this weekend’s weather and any inconvenience it may cause. We appreciate your understanding as we make every effort to hold the ceremony under safe and enjoyable conditions.

Parents’ Coffee Helps Kick-Off the School Year

On Friday, August 25, the Parent’s Association hosted another exceptional parents’ coffee! During the coffee, Head of School Lisa Lyle shared a personal, lighthearted, yet serious take on her own parenting instincts and the MICDS Parent/School Partnership. She also shared several quotes from Julie Lythcott-Haims’ book, How to Raise an Adult: Break Free of the Overparenting Trap and Prepare Your Kid for Success, including:

“Between their late teens and early twenties, we want to launch a kid who still loves us and wants to see us, but who also has the wherewithal to make his or her way in life, with a lot of skills and the mind-set of ‘I think I can, I think I can!’”

Ms. Lyle encouraged parents to read Lythcott-Haims’ book (which can be found in the MICDS bookstore) if they haven’t already done so.

What a great way to jump-start the year!
