Pre-Spring Break (and Pre-Distance Learning) Fun in First Grade

Just before spring break, first graders had an exciting week that included a Chinese dragon parade and a field trip to the Missouri Botanical Garden.

They held their traditional Chinese New Year dragon parade through Beasley as students, teachers and parents clapped and cheered. This was the culmination of their learning unit on China. They even created a banner with Chinese characters and drawings.

They also took a surprise field trip to the Missouri Botanical Garden on a rainy spring day. Before the field trip, using a Botanical Garden map, the students « mapped out » a pretend visit through the garden. On the day of the field trip, they were surprised to find out they had planned their own tour. Enjoy the photos!
