Across the country this fall, athletic trainers, schools and sports organizations are participating in the “Safety in Football Campaign.” The campaign promotes increased safety in football in the state of Missouri. As part of the campaign, the Missouri Athletic Trainer’s Association chose five high-profile games across the state to highlight as programs that do the right things to protect our student-athletes. The association’s goal is to educate the public and identify ways in which they can lessen the risks of injury and keep the focus on the fun and camaraderie of football.
The MICDS vs. John Burroughs School homecoming football game was chosen as one of the only five games highlighted in Missouri. As such, players on both sides of the field wore ATs (Athletic Trainers) stickers on their helmets. These stickers, paired with announcements during the game, acknowledged the schools’ and Athletic Trainers’ efforts toward improving safety in youth football.
Athletic trainers (ATs) and coaches are providing their clinical skill and expertise each and every day at MICDS. We are thrilled to have been recognized for our work in supporting our student-athletes in football and across our many athletics programs!
