Senior Kindergarten Quilt

SK Students Weave Together Personal and School Families

As an annual tradition at the beginning of each school year, our Senior Kindergarten classes study families and the many ways they are unique. SK Teacher Jennifer Gillis describes, “We wanted to learn more about each other’s family and came up with the idea of a class quilt – where each family, with their own characteristics and traditions is represented, but once the squares are put together, a new SK family is created!”

Families make their squares and choose special fabric for the back at home. Then, the teachers sew the pieces together with the students. Once completed, the quilt hangs in the Lower School office until it is archived for the next classes’ quilt to take its place

What a wonderful way to weave together the concept of personal and school families!
