Strength & Conditioning Program has MICDS Student-athletes Improving Mind and Body

MICDS athletes have seen tremendous gains on the field since starting the Strength & Conditioning program last year. Eric Lay, JK-8 Physical Education Dept. Chair/Director of Fitness & Athletic Development, Everett Goldberg, Teacher and Strength and Conditioning Coach, and Rachel Maurer, Middle School PE Teacher, have been working to help our student-athletes in all sports improve their strength and performance while reducing the likelihood of injury.

In addition to higher performance on the field, coaches and athletes have seen the results of the time invested in the Strength & Conditioning program being translated into more cohesive teams and improved academic performance. Many student-athletes utilize the weight room during the school day. The “brain shift” that comes with breaking up class time with physical activity has been proven to help students focus and understand academic material more clearly.

In many ways, the MICDS Strength & Conditioning program benefits our student-athletes and sets them up for year-round success. Way to go, Rams!

All students are encouraged to take advantage of our Strength & Conditioning program. Download the Summer 2022 Athletic Development Program schedule here.
