Strings Students Attend St. Louis Symphony Concert

Upper School strings students enjoyed a field trip to Powell Hall for the St. Louis Symphony’s Coffee Concert that included works by Beethoven and Mozart. After a sweet start of donuts and coffee, students watched and listened to the orchestra’s beautiful performance of the following pieces:

  • BEETHOVEN Leonore Overture No. 3
  • MOZART Violin Concerto No. 5, K.219 “Turkish“
  • R. STRAUSS Symphonic Fantasy from Die Frau ohne Schatten
  • HINDEMITH Symphonic Metamorphosis

The students were excited to see last-minute change to the Mozart concerto that featured social media phenom, violinist Ray Chen.

They were also interviewed to welcome incoming St. Louis Symphony Orchestra conductor Stéphane Denève. The video captured different groups of people welcoming him and will be presented at his welcome gala on February 8 in the St. Louis Union Station ballroom.
