Student Standout: Donovan ’18, Mikula ’18, Desloge ’19, Mikula ’21, Bundy ’19, Johnson-Brimmage ’19, Cai ’27, Zhang ’20

This past March, Alex Donovan ’18 placed 2nd out of 62 participants in the American Chemistry Society’s 2018 St. Louis High School Chemistry Olympiad competition. With this outstanding achievement, Alex earned a monetary award and qualified for the U.S. National Chemistry Olympiad Competition, whose purpose is to stimulate young people to achieve excellence in chemistry.

Henry Mikula ’21, Jeffrey Desloge ’18 and J.D. Mikula ’18 all qualified for State golf and represented MICDS at the Boys Golf Class 3 Championships in Camdenton, Missouri, on Monday and Tuesday.

A midfielder for Varsity Lacrosse, Graham Bundy ’19 recently set the MICDS single-season record for points when he tallied his 109th last week against Chaminade. Read the full story here.

Two of our own placed in the 21st Annual Diverse-City Art Competition held by the Diversity Awareness Partnership. Way to go, Asia Johnson-Brimmage ’19 who won first place in the 9th-12th grade level and Catherine Cai ’27 who won second place for the 3rd-5th grade level!

Minyi Zhang ’20 recently entered an art contest. Her watercolor painting of “Chelsea” has been accepted to be published in the book Celebrating Art. This is an honor, as most students are not invited to be published. This publication brings together the best student artists in North America. Top 10 winners receive special recognition in the book, a $25 award and a free copy of the book that includes their art. High merit entries are also given special recognition in the book.
