Upper School Students Win at Hack Chicago Event

This summer, Blake Abel `18, Jack Cai `19, Michael Gira `19 and Nicholas Clifford `20 participated in Hack Chicago and won “Best Presentation” for their “Capshare” web based tool. Capshare is a photo sharing service that integrates user location without the use of links. It helps you share pictures taken by different phones, similar to “Airdrop” but for all phones.

 

Field Hockey Pick

Mia Duchars ‘20 was one of 37 U-16 field hockey players from across the country selected to attend the December Junior National Team Training Camp by USA Field Hockey. This camp is the final tryout for selection to the 2019 U.S. U-17 and U-19 Women’s National Teams and will take place December 19-21 in Lancaster, PA. The athletes were selected based on their performance in the recently held U-17 and U-19 Junior National Camp. Congrats and good luck Mia!

 

Swimming Success

Congrats to Eric Ji `21 for winning the 200 meter breaststroke silver medal in the 2018 Central Zone USA Swimming Championships. He also made the time cut for the National Club Swimming Association to qualify for the 2019 NCSA Junior National Championships.

 

Golf Award

Henry Mikula ’21 teed up to earn second place in the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour – HJGT-St. Louis Junior Open at Aberdeen Golf Club. Congrats!

 

 

Fencing National Championships

Bogdan Hamilton `22 was recently featured in the St. Louis Post Dispatch. He was among the top challengers in the 2018 USA Fencing National Championships and July Challenge at the America’s Center in downtown St. Louis this summer. Read the story of his passion for fencing here.

 

Theatrical Talent at the Muny

Samantha Iken `22 played Pepper in the Muny’s “Annie”. This was her Muny debut. Ben Iken `24 played Young Cosmo in the Muny’s “Singin’ in the Rain” – his fifth Muny show. He also performed with the Muny Kids Touring Troupe at 7 p.m. before the show!

 

Field Hockey Star

Kate Oliver `22 participated in the Junior Olympics this week and her team won. Quite an achievement!

 

 

 

Passion for Hockey

Laurel Potter `24 was featured in a blog for her love of hockey on an international scale. Read about her experience travelling to Hong Kong for a hockey tournament here.

 

Baseball Champs

Drew Messey `26 and his teammates on the Missouri Gators baseball team won the 10U Game 7 World Series Championship this summer. Drew Messey `26 and Ben Petersen `26 were selected to represent the Missouri Gators 10U Baseball team at the 2018 All Star Games.

 

Winning Pianist

Catherine Cai `27 won first place at the 2018 Steinway Competition in the junior piano division. The competition included some of the top junior pianists in the greater St. Louis region. The contest winners played a concert in July.
