Gateway Field Hockey Girls Compete in Orlando

Over the weekend of February 1-3, the Gateway Field Hockey club attended the Disney Field Hockey Showcase at ESPN Wide World of Sports in Orlando for a national tournament. Girls from MICDS competed in U12, U14, U16 and U19, and Gateway took over 100 athletes with multiple teams in the U14 and U16 groupings. Girls competed on full-size fields and most teams played two games each day. Each age group started with a seeding pool and then moved into a bracket for overall placement. Gateway teams finished strong all the way around; highlights were that each of the U14 and U16 teams finished 3rd, while U19 finished 4th.

Boys Varsity Lacrosse Coach Andy Kay Inducted into Hall of Fame

The St. Louis Chapter of US Lacrosse inducted MICDS Varsity Coach and Middle School English Teacher Andy Kay into its Hall of Fame last week. A sell-out crowd of 200, many of whom were MICDS students and parents, was there to celebrate.

In 2018, the Boys Varsity Lacrosse Team dominated their in-state competition and earned their 5th consecutive State title. The Rams finished the season ranked number two overall in the Midwest.

Graham Bundy Jr. ’19 and many of his teammates were at the induction dinner to support Coach Kay. He said, « I could not think of a person more qualified to receive an award of this degree than Coach Kay. Not only has Coach Kay evidently fostered a Lacrosse program with a winning culture, he has also displayed his selflessness and dedication to making the sport better. »

Congratulations to Coach Andy Kay!
