Flemming ’19 Recognized as Outstanding Volunteer

Katie Flemming ’19 was recognized as a Distinguished Finalist in the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards for her volunteer work. She created “Katie’s Books for Kids,” an initiative that has donated more than 5,000 books to patients at childen’s hospitals and allows pediatric patients to take books home with them when they are released. Katie will receive an engraved bronze Distinguished Finalist medallion.

Brooks ’20 Named Athlete of the Week, Featured in Video

Basketballer Jessica Brooks ’20 was named the Schnucks High School Athlete of the Week, and 590 The Fan posted a video in which she explains how basketball is a perfect analogy for life.

MICDS Basketball Collects Win in Sullivan

The Sullivan Independent News reports that Nick Roper ’21 and Jack Pronger ’21 scored big to help the Rams secure a 64-57 victory. Jack also collected a game-high 16 rebounds.

Girls Swim Team Goes for Gold

MICDS dominated the Metro League Swimming and Diving Championships last weekend. Abby Wickersham ’22 took first place in the 50-yard freestyle and the 100 freestyle, and swam the opening leg on the winning 400 free relay squad. She’s featured in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Anna Scott Baur ’22 won the 200 individual medley and 100 breaststroke. Alex Fox ’19 took the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle. Sophie Henriksen ’22 captured the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke. Ski Racers Compete in Wisconsin

MICDS students Will Wurdack ’21, Noah Kleinlehrer ’22 and Davis Schukar ’24 competed last weekend for the Hidden Valley Ski Team in the Wisconsin Illinois Iowa Junior Alpine Racing Association Cascade Mountain Race. The boys competed over two days in Giant Slalom and Slalom race events in the U18, U16 and U14 Division. Over 450 racers competed over the two days. Noah Kleinlehrer will also be competing in forthcoming United States Ski Association Central Division 2 Races in February and March.

Band Teacher's Band Featured on Fox 2

Band Teacher Mr. Josh Baumgartner plays saxophone in a band called Sweetie & The Toothaches, which was featured on Fox 2 News last Wednesday morning. Sweetie & The Toothaches play Jump Blues, Boogie Woogie and Blues, and were on Fox 2 to support their friends at Tenacious Eats, and to promote their CD release tonight at 8 p.m. at Casa Loma Ballroom.

Earl Macam Featured in Princeton Review

The Princeton Review recently posted an article on 20 School Counselors Who Make a Difference, and our own college counselor Mr. Earl Macam was featured.
