A Tournament Title and an Impressive Season for the Eighth-Grade Girls Basketball Team
By Eric Lay, Eighth-Grade Girls Basketball Team Head Coach and JK-8 Physical Education Dept. Chair/Director of Fitness & Athletic Development
The MICDS Eighth-Grade Girls Basketball team capped off an outstanding season with an impressive 16-4 record, establishing itself as one of the top middle school teams in the area.
All four losses came against some of the premier club programs in the St. Louis region. Of the four losses, the team had rematches against two of those teams. The team responded in emphatic fashion, earning double-digit victories and demonstrating significant growth as the season progressed.
The team also recently captured the title of the most competitive pool at the 17th annual Winter Meltdown Tournament, further cementing its place among the area’s elite. Battling through a challenging field, the team demonstrated stifling defense and offensive execution that left defenders baffled.
Beyond the wins, this group distinguished itself through its commitment to teamwork. The players consistently played unselfish basketball, supported one another through every stretch of the season, and represented MICDS with pride. Their unity, resilience, and collective determination made this season memorable for everyone involved.
With exceptional skill, remarkable chemistry, and a commitment to competing at the highest level, this talented group’s future is incredibly bright!
