Sophomore Presents at Johns Hopkins University's Global Health Leaders Conference

A round of applause goes to Amisha Poojari ’25 who over the summer presented at the virtual Global Health Leaders Conference at Johns Hopkins University. This international conference is a premier global health education program led by Johns Hopkins University students and faculty. «Getting into the conference was a thrilling experience for me and I am so glad to have done this!» said Poojari. «There was a Speaker Series presented by accredited professors of institutions and leaders in healthcare. The presentations were so insightful and informative with topics ranging from basic awareness in public health to pandemic recovery and other global issues in the field. I am so lucky to have been a speaker in the Student Speaker Series and value the experience of sharing my perspective on the issues of accessible health care for everyone!»

At the conference, emerging global health leaders in grades 9-12 from around the world learn from one another and some of the world’s leaders in global health and medicine. In addition to Poojari, other speakers at the conference have included Nobel Laureates, world-renowned professors, humanitarians, researchers, and physicians.

«Amisha was one of the few students from Missouri admitted into our highly selective program this year and chosen to present,» said Siam Rezwan, Chair of The Global Health Leaders Conference. «Amisha wonderfully represented MICDS and Missouri in our program.»

View the recording of Poojari’s presentation below as she discusses international healthcare issues due to poverty and the importance of making healthcare available for everyone. Poojari encourages listeners to support the mission of H.O.P.E. (The Humanitarian Organization for Poverty’s End) and similar organizations in order to spread awareness on this issue and directly help people in need.
