Senior Crowned Outstanding Student Leader
Senior Kareena Kanumury ’23 recently received the Outstanding Student Leader Award, given by St. Louis County for leadership. The award is presented by the St. Louis County Department of Human Services to students who demonstrate leadership, citizenship, and high personal standards and contribute vital services to our community. County Executive Sam Page honored and recognized these students in the County Council Chambers of St. Louis County Government Center.
«It means so much to be recognized and represent the MICDS community for St. Louis County,» said Kanumury. «I feel, as a senior, I have grown tremendously, not only academically but personally throughout my high school career. I have learned the significance of community and how small acts of service can ripple throughout humanity; being a leader is not only measured in how many people follow you but the people and change you help create as a community. I wouldn’t have received an award if it wasn’t for all the support my family, friends, and teachers gave me throughout my life here at MICDS. I am truly thankful and honored to receive such a title and have the experience of meeting exceptional students across St. Louis.»
Junior Improves Tennis Ranking by Over 33 Positions
Tennis student-athlete Rachel Li ’24 was highlighted on the Tennis Recruiting Network for improving her ranking during the month of September. She improved by 33 positions. Learn more about her tennis achievements since picking up the sport in fifth grade in the article above. Way to go, Rachel!
MICDS Football Wins on the Road

Rams Donate Warm Clothing to U. City Flood Victims
In mid-October, Upper School World Language Teacher Steven Crumb orchestrated MICDS’ participation in a clothing giveaway hosted by Trinity Presbyterian Church in University City. The drive supported those who were impacted by the historic flooding at the end of July in the University City area. The MICDS Upper School community was invited to donate warm clothing and volunteer at the clothing giveaway.
Thank you to all who generously donated their gently-used warm clothing! The donation table was piled high with warm coats, jackets, sweaters, jeans, hats, and more. Thank you, also, to those who volunteered. Two MICDS teachers and three students helped at the giveaway.
Upper Schoolers Organize Halloween Costume Drive
Angelina Hu ’26, Amisha Poojari ’25, and Harper Carnahan ’26 coordinated a Halloween costume drive which ended this week. The drive gathered costumes that will be given to the incoming community of Afghan refugees as part of the efforts of the Welcome Neighbor Organization. «We would like to thank everyone in our community who was able to donate!» shares Amisha. «It truly is amazing how we can pose a warm welcome to incoming refugee families during this spooky season with Halloween costumes. We hope that this has added a fun addition to settling in with the celebration of their first Halloween in the states!» Happy (early) Halloween to all!
