Summer Experience at Washington University
This past summer, Layth Hamed ’19 participated in the Pre-Medical Institute at Washington University in St. Louis. He shares the following about his experience. «I spent three weeks exploring the exciting atmosphere of Washington University and learning about the ever-changing world of medicine. From speaking to physicians in the fields of neurology, oncology, immunology, psychology, and emergency medicine to learning about the history of global health, I was able to gain valuable educational and career experience through an exciting, yet academically-rigorous program. Through the examination of anthropology, clinical medicine, and public health, I was able to better understand health and medicine from a globalized perspective and health concerns that transcend national borders. The combination of guest lectures and undergraduate curriculum made me feel as if I was an actual college student, and it was interesting to experience life on campus and meet people with similar interests from various parts of the world!»
