Summer Experience at Washington University

This past summer, Layth Hamed ’19 participated in the Pre-Medical Institute at Washington University in St. Louis. He shares the following about his experience. « I spent three weeks exploring the exciting atmosphere of Washington University and learning about the ever-changing world of medicine. From speaking to physicians in the fields of neurology, oncology, immunology, psychology, and emergency medicine to learning about the history of global health, I was able to gain valuable educational and career experience through an exciting, yet academically-rigorous program. Through the examination of anthropology, clinical medicine, and public health, I was able to better understand health and medicine from a globalized perspective and health concerns that transcend national borders. The combination of guest lectures and undergraduate curriculum made me feel as if I was an actual college student, and it was interesting to experience life on campus and meet people with similar interests from various parts of the world! »
