Students Compete in Chess Tournament and Science Olympiad

MICDS students competed in the Science Olympiad regionals competition on Saturday, March 2, at Lindenwood University. The following partner MICDS teams placed in their respective events:

3rd place in Write it Do it: Amy Li ’21 and Henry Coen ’21
4th place in Circuits: Alex Migala ’20 and Ceci Cohen ’20
4th place in Fermi Questions: Srujay Pandiri ’19 and Nischal Ada ’20
4th place in Forensics: Ceci Cohen ’20 and Fiona Richards ’21
5th place in Thermodynamics: Jon Zhang ’20 and Boyu Liu ’20

Science Olympiad is a national science competition with events in various scientific disciplines, including biology, chemistry, earth science, physics and engineering.

Chess Team 

The MICDS Chess Team competed in the 2018-19 Gateway Chess High School League tournament, and after placing 2nd in the West Conference semi-finals, they moved on to the finals this week.

The team lost their match against Ladue High School in the West Conference finals.

“All the games were very close and our players were very competitive,” said Chess Coach Justin Little.
