AP Music Theory and Upper School Band students experienced the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra at Powell Hall this week. Students enjoyed «Up Close: Felix Mendelssohn» and learned about the composer’s inspirations, influences and most famous compositions.

The performance included a character appearance by Felix’s older sister and a talented musical composer as well, Fanny, who told the story of Felix’s lifetime journey and how travel, in particular, inspired and influenced his music. The students recognized many of the compositions, epecially the famous «Wedding March» from A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
