Upper School Students Earn Accolades for Presentations at Global Conference

Campbell Schafer ’18 and Mehreen Shafqat ’16 were cited by the Global Online Academy (GOA) for their presentations at the recent GOA Catalyst Conference.

The theme of the conference was “Sparking Change in Our Communities.”

Members of nine GOA classes created online presentations around topics related to their course of study. More than 250 students from 10 countries participated, grouping their projects into categories like Promoting Grassroots Action, Promoting Institutional Change, and Raising Awareness. It was one of the largest-ever online conferences led by students.

During the conference, GOA singled out particular projects that demonstrated excellence by identifying and contextualizing the importance of their topic, articulating a realistic and inspiring strategy for change, and engaging visitors through creative, well-designed, multi-modal presentation pages.

Mehreen and Campbell were among the fewer than 20% of all participants to receive this Citation.

Mehreen’s project is titled Increasing the Presence of Women in STEM Fields:

Campbell’s is called The Eradication of Sexism with Local Female Empowerment:
