Upper School Vocalists Excel Regionally and Nationally

MICDS Upper School vocalists are excelling regionally and nationally, and we are happy to sing their praises on these achievements.

Nicholas Clifford `20 was selected by audition to the 2019 Missouri All-State Choir as the first bass alternate.  Nicholas qualified to audition for the prestigious choir by scoring in the top 20 singers in his voice part at the district choir audition in October. The 192-member Missouri All-State Choir is known for being one of the finest all-state ensembles in the country. The 2019 choir will be directed by Dr. Anton Armstrong, Director of the St. Olaf Choir. The choir will perform as the finale for the Missouri Music Educators Association Conference and Clinic on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Tan-Tar-A Resort.

Arjun Ramakrishnan `20 was selected by audition to perform with the 2019 American Choral Directors Association National Honor Choir. Thousands of students from throughout the United States submitted recorded auditions for this honors choir. This marks the fourth year that Arjun has been selected to perform with an ACDA Honor Choir. The choir will perform on Saturday, March 2, 2019 as the finale for the American Choral Directors Association National Conference held in Kansas City, MO. The choir will be conducted by Dr. Jefferson Johnson, Director of Choral Activities at the University of Kentucky – Lexington.

McKay Marshall `19 performed the National Anthem at the 2018 St. Louis Law Enforcement Medal of Valor Ceremony held at Orlando’s in Maryland Heights on November 13, 2018. Missouri Governor Mike Parson was in attendance and presented the awards to the St. Louis area first responders, in addition to numerous other city and state dignitaries. McKay is the first high school student to perform at this event since its inception.
