Overview

The MICDS Boys were able to hit the podium for the second season in a row, finishing in fourth place as a team in Class 4. MICDS won its first District Track and Field Championship since 1963 and ended the season with two State Championships. The team of captain Tony Nunn ’22, Winston Moore ’23, Tristan Williams ’24, and captain Novo Onovwerosuoke ’22 won both the 4x200m relay and 4x400m relay. The Rams had several other All-State performances on the way to their trophy finish. Brandon Mitchell-Day ’22 finished in third place in the triple jump in his first season of Track and Field after a stellar basketball career. Moore lowered his 100m personal best to 10.70, finishing fifth and earning his place on the All-State podium. Onovwerosuoke broke the school 400m record this season three times, and earned All-State honors finishing in 3rd place in the final. Onovwerosuoke also earned another All-State medal in the 200m, finishing in 4th place. Cameron Lester ’23 was a state qualifier in the long jump but was unable to make the final. Nate Schuckman ’23 qualified for the Championship in the discus throw. Nunn also qualified in the open 400m but just missed the final. Each State qualifying athlete was able to perform a personal best at the Championship. Onovwerosuoke won the Charlie Storey Gillis award for the most inspirational member of the boys Track and Field team.
